Laser Range Finder

I’d like to take a range signal from a SICK DME 2000 Laser and connect it to digital display without using a PLC. theoretically I thought it would work but now that I got both I’m having a real hard time. I have tried several displays including RED LION, PHOENIX CONTACT and SIMPSON. Has anyone ever had this problem?
